Problem and Solution Essay {5th grade}

Had to write an essay today focused on a problem and solution. I choose bullying to write about. I have never been bullied but I have an older brother that has had a few incidents with it. I think bullying is something we all need to become aware of and deal with on a more positive note.

Problem/Solution Essay

Bullying is a huge problem for kids. It causes kids to lose self esteem and confidence in themselves and sometimes people around them. It can make kids not like to go to school and to stop doing things they normally do. Bullying can start out as just joking around but can turn into something much worse. It just keeps growing. There are some ways to stop bullying: helping the victims, educating the public in general, and punishment for the bullies.

Victims should be educated with ways to deal with bullies. They should have clear ways to report incidents. There should be trusted friends, family, and adults they can do to with anything. They need to be taught how to ignore bullies too. Letting bullies know they are getting to you is probably the worst thing to do, they usually like the attention, even if it’s negative. Victims should be aware that it is not their fault they were bullied.

Bullies need to be educated just as much as the victims. They need to be aware of what they are doing, that they are hurting someone, and that there could be bigger consequences to deal with. They need to realize that maybe the people they are trying to impress aren’t really good friends.

Consequences need to be clear. Consequences that the bully might be causing for the victims, like depression and loss of self esteem. Consequences that the bully is causing for themselves like detention, suspension, and trouble at home. Alot of times bullies don’t get in trouble and they keep bullying. Everyone needs to be on the same page.

Becoming aware of the situation is a must. We all must be aware of what bullying is and what it can cause. Everyone should know where to go to report any acts of bullying. There is no way to fully stop bullying unless everyone is doing the same things.
